Hello there, I am currently in possession of the Flu. I would love very much not to be, but as I was not consulted beforehand, I suppose I can only make the best of it.

Forever ago I posted a picture of my beanie baby collection and was like ‘haha I finally cleared room for them yay :)’. There are…slightly more of them now. And by slightly I mean I don’t know what to do with all of them. There’s a bunch on my bed but they have the unfortunate tendency to fall off when I’m sleeping. If anyone has any suggestions for what to do with an unknown number of small stuffed toys please let me know, I’d be much obliged.

ALSO before this whole ‘being sick’ thing started, I got to see David Lynch’s Dune in the theatre! It was actually the first time I’d ever seen it, and I was kind of surprised to learn that most people actually don’t like it lol? (I WILL PREFACE THIS BY SAYING: I’ve never read any of the Dune books or seen any other adaptations, so I don’t know how accurate it is nor how it holds up compared to other adaptations. Pretty much the only things I knew going in were Worms and there was going to be a guy named Duncan Idaho. I also thought he was going to be the main character and was pretty shocked when he immediately died)

But I really loved it!! So here is my non-exhaustive list of why Dune 1984 is a wonderful movie:
One, everything is so over-the-top and still serious. I love it when things are like ‘hi here is Kyle Maclachlan riding a worm while some sick music plays. This is a serious part of this movie please treat it as such :)’. Like SIR YESSIR. I SHALL.

Two, the dog!! Why are there still pugs in the future?? How are they the breed that has survived? Who cares the movie is so much better for his presence.

Three, controversial take maybe but I love the credits. They look so goofy and like something my high school theatre would’ve done if they could’ve but also they’re the ideal form of credits to me?? Like if you had just told me Sting plays Feyd-Rautha I would’ve been wracking my brains going who the heck was that because sometimes I can’t remember what Sting looked like in the 80s, I’m sorry, but no! They give us pictures! I wish more movies did this.

Four, WALK WITHOUT RHYTHM AND IT WON’T ATTRACT THE WORM. My dad and I just stared at each other after this trying not to laugh, and then I spent the whole drive home trying to convince him that Weapon of Choice was, in fact, a song about Dune. I mean, don’t be alarmed at my tone of voice? I feel like there’s a good argument in there somewhere. (Here’s a link to the song so you can make your own theories, or just enjoy a really excellent song: Weapon of Choice )

I’m sure there are many more but unfortunately I am very sleepy, so ta ta for now. Hope you all are staying safe, yessir yessir.
I got the first season of Dollhouse at a Goodwill :) I haven’t finished it yet, but here’s my jumbled verdict so far:

-WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LORE FROM THE FIRST EPISODE. Like, Echo remembers things that happened to someone else, which kind of led me to believe this would be like an iZombie thing where the actives’ personalities or whatever were all based on actual people, and Topher says something kind of to this effect, but then it never seems to come back up again? And also while we’re on the subject, how was the person she played in the first episode even available for Topher to draw off of anyway? Did that woman volunteer to have her brain scanned? Did they do it after she died? Is this how they get all of their personalities and talents and such? Some type of job fair where they say ‘hey, are you an accomplished thief? Then please, come over here and let us scan your brain so we can make our own thief!’ I have many questions and I can only assume they’re going to be answered, right guys? Please?

-I do not care about Paul. I cared briefly in the beginning, and now I do not. I keep forgetting about him and then he keeps showing back up. Maybe he can win me over again. We’ll see.

-On a more positive note, I love Adelle!! I keep mentally comparing this show to Alias because that’s what my brain always defaults to, and at first I thought oh hey she’s kind of like Irina but honestly she feels more like Ariana to me now. Women who look competent enough when she’s playing a game of chess that you don’t notice she’s actually making terrible decisions left and right my beloveds <33

-I’m constantly torn between ‘the Dollhouse is intentionally terrible, they are showing how awful it would be to have no control over your life’ and ‘please god let these poor people have a break’. Like I KNOW the whole point is that the Dollhouse is wrong but also can we please stop making their lives miserable for thirty seconds!! You made me care about these people and then insisted on making things worse at every possible turn! Which hey, definitely makes me want to see if they ever escape, so well played at least in that regard, I suppose.

-Echoes episode of all time what can’t she do. We learn more about Rossum and Caroline’s old life, we get to see a bunch of actives in fun situations where they get to be the ones in control of things (for the most part, at least) rather than their handlers, and also Dominic finally saying wow maybe I shouldn’t have tried to burn you alive. Just maybe. I am also firmly devoted to the task of hating Topher because they keep trying to make him out as the quirky little tech guy, a title I protest to being given to him greatly, but honestly the whole conversation between him and Adelle wore me down to him a little bit. Only a little. They have a really funny dynamic though, so I hope we get to see more of that, at least.

I have more thoughts but I am sleepy and afraid this might not be very coherent already! So I shall leave it here for now

I DID IT!!

Is two times in one day considered a lot for Dreamwidth? I don't know I'm just excited. Turns out that the fun activity I enjoy is actually fun and there was no reason for my brain to procrastinate as long as it did! Anyway I finished the beta reading and I am EXCITED for the next installment! Nobody has to slap me for not doing it now either!
I finally cleared some room to display some of my beanie baby collection!
an assortment of small beanie baby stuffed animals propped up on a shelf. They all have small black eyes. Some books can be seen behind them.

There are still a few guys who usually stay on my bed, though :)
more beanie babies, this time three dogs, two bears, a bull, and an anteater on a black shelf. Books are very clearly seen behind them.

I don't really collect 'em with any particular purpose, just when I find them out and about. They do all eventually get names though, even though technically they already have them heh. I like giving them all the names of song titles because I find a bear having a long nonsensical name to be hilarious. So if you know any good song titles let me know!

I've been procrastinating beta reading very hard, though, so someone smack me if I don't get that done today :p
Hallo! I kind of missed the time when people were really using Livejournal, so I'm just trying to figure out how this type of website works. I offer a picture of one of my cats as a greeting
