Hello there, I am currently in possession of the Flu. I would love very much not to be, but as I was not consulted beforehand, I suppose I can only make the best of it.

Forever ago I posted a picture of my beanie baby collection and was like ‘haha I finally cleared room for them yay :)’. There are…slightly more of them now. And by slightly I mean I don’t know what to do with all of them. There’s a bunch on my bed but they have the unfortunate tendency to fall off when I’m sleeping. If anyone has any suggestions for what to do with an unknown number of small stuffed toys please let me know, I’d be much obliged.

ALSO before this whole ‘being sick’ thing started, I got to see David Lynch’s Dune in the theatre! It was actually the first time I’d ever seen it, and I was kind of surprised to learn that most people actually don’t like it lol? (I WILL PREFACE THIS BY SAYING: I’ve never read any of the Dune books or seen any other adaptations, so I don’t know how accurate it is nor how it holds up compared to other adaptations. Pretty much the only things I knew going in were Worms and there was going to be a guy named Duncan Idaho. I also thought he was going to be the main character and was pretty shocked when he immediately died)

But I really loved it!! So here is my non-exhaustive list of why Dune 1984 is a wonderful movie:
One, everything is so over-the-top and still serious. I love it when things are like ‘hi here is Kyle Maclachlan riding a worm while some sick music plays. This is a serious part of this movie please treat it as such :)’. Like SIR YESSIR. I SHALL.

Two, the dog!! Why are there still pugs in the future?? How are they the breed that has survived? Who cares the movie is so much better for his presence.

Three, controversial take maybe but I love the credits. They look so goofy and like something my high school theatre would’ve done if they could’ve but also they’re the ideal form of credits to me?? Like if you had just told me Sting plays Feyd-Rautha I would’ve been wracking my brains going who the heck was that because sometimes I can’t remember what Sting looked like in the 80s, I’m sorry, but no! They give us pictures! I wish more movies did this.

Four, WALK WITHOUT RHYTHM AND IT WON’T ATTRACT THE WORM. My dad and I just stared at each other after this trying not to laugh, and then I spent the whole drive home trying to convince him that Weapon of Choice was, in fact, a song about Dune. I mean, don’t be alarmed at my tone of voice? I feel like there’s a good argument in there somewhere. (Here’s a link to the song so you can make your own theories, or just enjoy a really excellent song: Weapon of Choice )

I’m sure there are many more but unfortunately I am very sleepy, so ta ta for now. Hope you all are staying safe, yessir yessir.
